Actions in Faith & Justice in Rowan County is inviting the community to join this first event in their “Building Beloved Community” series for 2026: 

Christian Nationalism Then and Now: A Panel Discussion

It will be held at the Rowan Museum from 7-8:30pm on Tuesday, March 24, 2026.

The Rowan Museum is located at 202 North Main Street in Salisbury, NC.

This event will discuss what is Christian Nationalism along with historical and theological implications, how we see Christian Nationalism showing up in our communities today especially in public education, and what we can do about it.

Panelists For The Evening

The Rev. Suzanne Parker Miller

The Rev. Suzanne Parker Miller is founder and executive director of Pastors for NC Children based in Raleigh, NC. PNCC is a nonpartisan, independent, nonprofit 501(c)(3) ministry serving the state of North Carolina to mobilize faith communities to advocate for public education. 

Because so many current harms to public schools are rooted in Christian Nationalism, Suzanne’s work helps name the harms and how we can advocate for loving our neighbors by serving our local public schools. The Rev. Kimberly Clarke Turner

The Rev. Kimberly Clarke Turner serves as the Director of the Center for Bold Leadership at Hood Theological Seminary in Salisbury, NC. She also chairs the Justice and Reconciliation Team for the Western North Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church whose work centers around embodying Christ’s call to love God and neighbor by dismantling systems of oppression, building bridges of reconciliation, and empowering communities of equity and peace. Additionally, she leads diversity, equity and inclusion formation for emerging clergy. Called to walk alongside pastors and lay leaders as they grow into their fullest selves, Rev. Turner works through coaching, spiritual direction, and practical ministry education, grounded in her commitments to equity, inclusion, and womanist theology. Devin Withrow

Devin Withrow is the Community Engagement Associate at the Baptist Joint Committee on Religious Liberty, providing support for BJC’s Christians Against Christian Nationalism network and BJC’s educational outreach and programming.

Originally from Wichita, Kansas, Withrow is based in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. A facilitator, speaker, and peacebuilder, he equips individuals and communities – on the local and national level – to engage in organizing and advocacy in order to build a more just, equitable, and inclusive society.

Married to the Rev. Olena Withrow, he is a member of First Baptist Church on Fifth in Winston-Salem, N.C. In his personal time, he enjoys reading and rock climbing. Devin Withrow’s email

Aaron Kepley

Aaron Kepley is the Director of the Rowan Museum with seventeen years of experience providing guided tours, historical interpretation, and presentations to diverse audiences. He specializes in providing programming and exhibits that promote community by highlighting forgotten or neglected stories from the past. Applying skills in research, communication, and community outreach he enjoys collaborating with volunteers, board members, and organizations to accomplish goals, raise funds, and pursue grants for historic sites.
