A Lent For Action

Lent 2026

Follow-Up From A Lent for Action--Team at Raleigh Moravian Church's Experience

PNCC Director Rev. Suzanne Parker Miller led a team of “A Lent for Action” from Raleigh Moravian Church. The team conducted interviews with over 30 people during Lent and into the Easter season. The team from Raleigh Moravian gathered the data from the conversations and decided that, given the topics of concern and interest, the team wanted to send letters to the Congressional delegation in Washington DC that represents the greater Triangle area where our church members live. We also wanted to send a letter to the Wake county delegation in the NC General Assembly. The team from Raleigh Moravian also chose May 18th at 2pm to attend the Wake County Commissioners Meeting to provide public comment during their budget deliberations for the Wake County Budget. A Lent for Action is being around Lent (February 18-April 5, 2026) to engage faith communities across NC. Recordings of the training  and all the resources for Congregational Teams are available here.

The goal of Lent for Action is to activate thousands of people in North Carolina to take faithful action together in cities and counties around the state, which motivates local elected officials to work on promoting the common good in our communities – prioritizing feeding the hungry, welcoming the stranger, tending the sick, and caring for our vulnerable neighbors – and move us closer to being a state where everyone can thrive.

In every participating congregation, a team of 5-10 people will have one-on-one conversations over 6 weeks to understand the impacts of federal attacks fueled by authoritarianism on our communities, followed by two weeks of planning for a public action at their County Commission on March 26, three days before Palm Sunday.

You are invited to build a team of 5-10 people in your house of worship to participate in Lent for Action:

  • Hosting an “in-reach” in which my team will have one-to-one conversations with members of our congregation to understand how federal attacks on our communities are impacting us and how we can promote the common good to care for our vulnerable neighbors
  • Participating in planning a March 26 public action at your County Commission with other teams in our area
  • Inviting other clergy to participate
